During his episode on Little House on the Prairie, Michael Landon was impressed with Gil and cast him in the lead for the movie The Killing Stone (1978, written, directed by Landon). It was shortly after this that Gil accepted the part as Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (TV series which ran from 1979 – 1981).

A great romantic spoof is Help Wanted: Male (1984) where Susan Pleshette, an unmarried career woman decided she wants a baby and finds a suitable partner in what leads to an unwanted romance.

Gil Gerard also stared in a made for TV movie, Hear No Evil (1982) as a cop who becomes deaf. Several movies were under his belt when he appeared in another TV made movie International Airport (1985).

Final Notice (1989) was based on the novels written about a private investigator located in Cincinnati, Ohio, actually written by a Cincinnatian author Jonathan Valin.
