If you’ve seen her face, then you know her. She has dazzled us with romance, wickedness and beguiling beauty that only she can make us believe. She is Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg.
Well, you’re right. We know her as Jane Seymour with beautiful long hair and an innocence that is deceiving. Born February 15, 1951 in England she had become a Hollywood actress with her talents as director, film producer, stage and television performer, she has nearly done it all. Her talents have covered the gambit of characters, from horror films like Frankinstein: The True Story (1973) to historical drama in The Story of David (1976) where she played the part of Bathseheba. A major miniseries that some might remember was the generational family struggle in the TV series Captains and the Kings (1976) where she co-stared with such greats as Patty Duke and the actor Perry King (TV show Riptide). Another fantasy movie that comes to mind it Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger (1977) but the most popular sci-fi series to hit television in the 70’s was Battlestar Galactica (TV, 1978) where she played the part of Serina. This series is now making a come back being produced by the Sci-Fi channel and due to air this coming month, January 2005. If you are a romance lover then, Somewhere in Time (1980) is your pick of movie favorites. Seymour played the alluring actress who fell in love with Christopher Reeve, a man out of time. A major TV event was the mini-series East of Eden (1981) where she co-stared with Timothy Bottoms and Bruce Boxleitner. With appearances in at least 72 movies and the star of her now TV classic Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman which appeared first as a movies in 1993 and then spun on to a series. Another full scale Dr. Quinn movie appeared in 1999. She has made several guest appearances on shows like Smallville, Diagnosis Murder, The Nanny, Murphy Brown and even McCloud. Seymour has also found footage behind the camera, as she has been producer with three of her own staring films.
