Another enjoyable TV series was Herbie, the Love Bug (1982) for which Bill Bixby directed. Another notable movie for the kids, as well as adults, was the Disney classic The Apple Dumpling Gang, in 1975, which he stared in with Don Knotts. There were a slew of Incredible Hulk movies made for TV, The Incredible Hulk Returns (1988), The Trial of the Incredible Hulk (1989) and The Death of the Incredible Hulk (1990). Bill had married three times. His first wife was actress Brenda Benet, whom he married in 1976. The couple later had a son named Christopher whom died (1981) at the age of six. The death of his son had frayed their marriage and they were divorced. Sadly a year later Brenda Benet was so despondent from their son’s death she committed suicide. His second marriage was to Laura Jane Michaels, which only lasted about a year till they were divorced. Bill’s life was a struggle from that point on due to the fact that he contracted prostate cancer, which eventually took his life in 1993. He died at the age of 59 and was married to Judith Kliban One of Bill’s last projects was Diagnosis Murder (1992), which stared Dick Van Dyke as well as himself – this TV movie became a long running series. Bixby was a great actor, producer and director and is definitely missed. To discover some great movies and books visit Amazon.com.
