Like most celebrities the doors opened for long-term steady employment on the daily soap operas. For Meg, As the World Turns (1982 – 1984) she did her daily acting.
From Amityville 3-D (Horror- 1983) to true classics like Sleepless in Seattle (1993), Meg has made her mark more than one way in Hollywood.
Her big break was in the true classic with heartthrob Tom Cruise in the movie Top Gun (1986), though she did not play the lead it gave her presence for future roles.
Prior to Top Gun she was appearing in a TV series titled: Wildside (1985) as the character Cally Oaks.
Later she appeared in the comedy, Armed and Dangerous (1986) that lead to the movie Innerspace (another comedy, 1987) where she met Dennis Quaid whom she married in 1991 and divorced in 2001. They had one son, Jack Henry Quaid.
During her career she was offered the seductive role in Basic Instinct (1992), which Sharon Stone played.
One very suspenseful movie that she stared with her husband was D.O.A,, (1988). An English professor (Dennis Quaid) is poisoned and has only 24 hours to live. A twist and betrayal of friendship leads to a thrilling movie.
A couple of noteable movies that one should see is You Got Mail (1999) with Tom Hanks and IQ a romance of the intelligent mind and Einstein? Lets just say it was a cute movie staring Tim Robbins.
Three essential movies that one must see to know Meg Ryan are: When Harry met Sally (1989) which she does the famous orgasmic scene in a restaurant with co-star, Billy Crystal. Joe vs. the Volcano with co-star Tom Hanks (1990) and finally Sleepless in Seattle(1993) – where blind dating is a love come true.
What can one say about Meg, except she as a talent that lures the viewer into her world? No matter if it is a thriller like D.O.A. or a simple romance movie like French Kiss (1995) staring Kevin Kline. She has the ability to lead in the movies.
