Aykroyd Says He's Calling It Quits

Dan Aykroyd says that he is planning to retire. He told the Toronto Globe & Mail that he has already moved out of Hollywood and is now planning his exit from filmmaking. "I'd like to find and choose the last vehicle and exit on a really high, graceful, substantial note in film," he said. Aykroyd did not indicate when he planned to call it quits, and in fact suggested that his pull-out from Hollywood may not be permanent. "I don't feel compelled and driven, career-wise," he told the newspaper. "At 49 years old, I'm really feeling sedentary, reclusive. I really just want to just shut everything down for a while."

A few of his most famous roles are…

Elwood Blues in The Blues Brothers

Elwood Blues: Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, don't fail us now!

Elwood Blues: They're not gonna catch us. We're on a mission from God!

Elwood Blues: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Ray in Ghostbusters

Ray Stantz: Well, this is great. If the ionization-rate is constant for all ectoplasmic entities, we can really bust some heads... in a spiritual sense of course.

Ray Stantz: Gozer the Gozerian: good evening. As a duly designated representative of the City, County and State of New York, I order you to cease any and all supernatural activities and return forthwith to your place of origin or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension.

Ray Stantz: Personally, I liked the university. They gave us money and facilities, we didn't have to produce anything. You've never been in the private sector. They expect results.

Austin in Spies Like Us

Austin Milbarge: For once I'm completely in agreement with my partner. I'm not going down there. Do you know what those things can do? Suck the paint off your house and give your family a permanent orange afro.

Austin Millbarge: We mock what we don't understand.

Joe Friday in Dragnet

Joe Friday: I don't care what undercover rock you crawled out from, there's a dress code for detectives in Robbery-Homicide. Section 3-605.10.20.22.24.26.50.70.80. It specifies: clean shirt, short hair, tie, pressed trousers, sports jacket or suit, and leather shoes, preferably with a high shine on them.

Joe Friday: I hate you, Streebeck.
