More Than Just a Voice

You may think of her as the woman on the VoiceStream commercials or the voice for their promo spots on your radio, but Jamie Lee Curtis is much more. In addition to her work writing children’s books, she has a notable and interesting film career.

Her big break came back in 1978 as she became the scream queen in “Halloween”. She followed that film with a sequel and several other less memorable movie parts, but made a mark on the industry in “Trading Places”. “A Fish Called Wanda” won her rave reviews and a Golden Globe nomination.

Other Golden Globe nods came from her role in “True Lies” and for television roles in “Anything But Love” and “The Heidi Chronicles”. Other films that stand out on her resume include “My Girl”, “Forever Young” and of course “Halloween: H2O”.

Most recently, she could be seen in “Drowning Mona” and “The Tailor of Panama”. Look for her to bring her role as Helen Tasker in “True Lies” back to the big screen in 2002 in the upcoming sequel.

Memorable quotes from Jamie’s memorable career…

Rona in “Drowning Mona”

Rona: Good luck doesn't happen to people like us. Good luck happens to Madonna.

Helen Tasker in “True Lies”

Helen Tasker: I married Rambo!

Wanda in “A Fish Called Wanda”

Wanda: To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people! I've known sheep who could outwit you. I've worn dresses with higher IQs, but you think you're an intellectual, don't you, ape?

Wanda: Aristotle was not Belgian, the principle of Buddhism is not "every man for himself", and the London Underground is not a political movement! Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked them up.

Jessie in “Perfect”

Jessie: What's wrong with wanting to be the best you can be? What's wrong with wanting to be perfect? What's wrong with wanting to be loved?

Laura in “Halloween”

Laurie Strode: You know what, Annie? One of these days you're going to get us all into deep trouble.

Tommy Doyle: Laurie, what's the boogeyman?
Laurie Strode: There's no such thing.

Laurie: Was that the bogeyman?
Dr. Loomis: As a matter of fact... it was!
