Are You Ready for Some Football?

This week's article is for all those football fans who feel lost without anything to watch since there are no games on this, the week before the SuperBowl. Get your fix from one of these great films that feature plenty of pigskin and pom poms.


The Longest Yard (1974)

Ben: Did you hear about Lucas? It’s suicide.
Rena: What do you mean?
Ben: He’s gone out for the football team!

Lucas: This equipment doesn’t fit.
Coach: No, it’s you that don’t fit.

Rudy (1993)

Steele: Are you ready for this, kid?
Rudy: I’ve been ready for this my whole life.

Fortune: You’re five foot nothin’, one hundred and nothin’, and you have nearly a speck of athletic ability. And you hung in there with the best college football team in the land for 2 years. And you’re getting a degree from the University of Notre Dame. In this life, you don’t have to prove nothin’ to nobody but yourself.

Jerry Maguire (1996)

Dicky Fox: The key to this business is personal relationships.

Rod Tidwell: I got a shelf life of ten years tops. My next contract’s gotta bring me the dollars that’ll last me and mine a long time…I’m out of this sport in five years. What’s my family gonna live on?

Jerry Maguire: I will not rest until I have you holding a Coke, wearing your own shoe, playing a Sega game featuring you, while singing your own song in a new commercial starring you, broadcast during the Superbowl, in a game that you are winning, and I will not sleep until that happens.
