A lesson about life in “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion”

Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow are Romy and Michele, two flighty blondes who are friends for life. When they get invited to their ten year high school reunion, they decide their lives are not exciting enough and invent new ones. In their made up lives, they are successful businesswomen who invented Post-Its, but their lies come crashing in when they truth is told. This embarrassing truth leads them to the realization that no matter what you do or who you are, success is about liking yourself.


Michele: I just get really happy when they finally let her shop.

Ramon: Mmm ! Romy, you are looking hot today!
Romy: Yeah? That's because I'm sweating like a pig in here.

Romy: The Frink-a-ziod and Michele ? I'm sure. Besides, didn't you have a thing for Sandy in high school?
Heather: I did not have a thing. I did not have a thing. I was very much in love with him. Very much in love, and there's a difference. There's a difference. There's a difference.

Romy: That's it! We can go to the reunion and just pretend to be successful. Who's gonna know? They're in Tucson; we're here. We could just show up looking like businesswomen.
Michele: Wait--Ohh. If the people at the reunion see us drive up in a Nova, won't they know we're not really businesswomen?
Romy: If you can make us the clothes, I can get us the car.

Romy: Like, what if we invented something?
Michele: Like what?
Romy: Well, I think it should be something that everybody has heard about, but nobody really knows who invented it. I've got it. Post-Its. Everybody knows what Post-Its are.
Michele: Yeah! They're the little yellow things with the stickum on the back, right?

Michele: I'm the Mary, and you're the Rhoda.
Romy: You're the Rhoda; you're the Jewish one.

Billy: So, what have you been doing since high school?
Romy: Well, believe it or not, I invented Post-Its.

Christie: So I told Prescott, "Either pay me the 150 or I am out of here. Bye-Bye." There are at least 12 other major markets that would put me on the air tomorrow.
Michele: Wow. So you did it? You're an anchorwoman?
Christie: No...I'm a weather girl on the highest rated 5:00 news in Tucson.
