American Beauty A story about a man who faces life at the age of forty-two: a work-obsessed wife, a daughter who hates him, her beautiful friend, and a neighborhood full of colorful (even if dark) characters. This dark comedy captured the votes of the members of the Academy of Arts and Sciences and took home this year's Best Picture award. It's a tragedy, a comedy, and at times simply a story about looking inside yourself and not taking life for granted.
