She was born in 1963 and by 1973 had decided she wanted to be an actress. Helen Hunt began in television with appearances in several shows including The Mary Tyler Moore Show and in several TV movies. She worked in the theatre and eventually landed a recurring role on the TV show St. Elsewhere.
