Nora Ephron was born May 19, 1941 to Phoebe and Henry Ephron, not surprisingly both screenwriters themselves. Her sister, Delia, has collaborated with Nora as the executive producer and writer on several of her films, including You've Got Mail and Mixed Nuts. Their other sister, Amy, has also written and produced films.
Before taking a stab at Hollywood, Nora received her MA at Wellesley College and wrote the novel, Heartburn. Her first film assignment was the screenplay for Silkwood, which received an Oscar nomination for Best Writing. Other award nominations include Best Writing Oscar nominations for When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle and a Best Screenplay Golden Globe nomination for When Harry Met Sally.
Ephron's latest project is Hanging Up, starring Meg Ryan, Diane Keaton and Lisa Kudrow. The comedy is due in theatres February 11.
