In 1985, Eric Stolz was originally cast to play the lead character in one of the year's biggest hits. When he did not act enough like a teenager, Stolz was replaced with Michael J. Fox. Then Fox became Marty McFly and brought us Back to the Future.
Another interesting piece of trivia about the film is that a refrigerator was originally to be used as the time travel machine. It ended up being changed to a DeLorean. Also, did you know the main street seen in the movie was used in Gremlins the year before? These bits of trivia add some interest to the movie, but the film needs no help. It is one of the best movies of the eighties. It is the eighties-the clothes, the speech, and the teen idol: Michael J. Fox. Marty McFly: Wait a minute Doc. Ah...are you telling me you built a time machine out of a DeLorean?

Marty McFly: Yeah, well history is gonna change.
Lou: You gonna order something kid?

Lorraine Baines: Wait a minute. Don't I know you from somewhere?
George McFly: Yes! Yes! I'm George. George McFly. I'm your density. I mean your destiny.
Marty McFly: If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.
Biff Tannen: So why don't you make like a tree and get outta here.
George McFly: Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out he'd melt my brain.
Dr. Emmet Brown: Tell me, future boy, who is president of the United States in 1985?
Marty McFly: Ronald Reagan.
Dr. Emmet Brown: Ronald Reagan? The actor! Who's vice president? Jerry Lewis?
