Death Does More Than Take a Vacation

It's more than just another movie starring Brad Pitt. Meet Joe Black is a story about life, love, and death. Actually Brad Pitt is Death, but he chooses to go by a more common and less shocking name, Joe Black. The basis of the film is that Death decides to take a vacation and chooses one of his clients to help him make the most of it.

Anthony Hopkins plays William Parrish, a media tycoon who strikes a deal with Death, agreeing that he will be able to forestall his death by showing Joe Black the pleasures of life. Parrish's job becomes a little more complicated when his daughter Susan, played by Claire Forlani, falls in love with Black without knowing who he really is. The complications that arise culminate in a heart touching ending that makes a few slow scenes and a three hour investment worth the wait.

Memorable Quotes from Meet Joe Black:

Joe Black: Careful Bill. You'll give yourself a heart attack and ruin my vacation.

William Parrish: When I introduce you, and I tell them who you are, I don't think anyone will stay for dinner.

William Parrish: You want me to be your guide?
Joe Black: You fit the bill, Bill.

William Parrish: Love is passion. Obsession. Someone you can't live without. Someone you fall head over heels for. Find someone you can love like crazy and will love you the same way back. Listen you your heart. No sense in life without this. To make the journey without falling deeply in love, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try, because if you haven't tried then you haven't lived.

Susan Parrish: Love, passion, obsession. All those things you told me to wait for, well they've arrived. What are you afraid of, Dad? That I'll fall head over heels for Joe? Well, I have.

Susan Parrish: Tell me you love me now.
Joe Black: I love you now. I love you always.

Joe Black: Thank you for loving me.

Joe Black: I can't believe people. I come for you, and you want to stay. I let you stay, and you want to go.
