Groundhog Day is not a holiday normally associated with any excitement beyond whether or not the famous weather predictor decides to stick around. Yet, a movie centered on this day was not only exciting, but also funny and thoroughly entertaining. It also stars two actors completely ideal for their roles, Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell.
Groundhog Day is about a weatherman, Phil Conners (Murray), who is sent to Punxatawney, PA to cover the annual Groundhog Day festival. This unhappy, unkind, and unfriendly weatherman finds himself waking up to the same day, Groundhog Day, over and over again. He is stuck in the same town on the same day, despite his efforts to somehow bring the day to an end. After a time, he begins to use the days to his advantage--learning how to play the piano and ice sculpt, saving lives, and getting to know the people around him. As he does this, he begins to change and becomes a better person. Ultimately, there is a sort of enlightenment that results from living the same day over and over that finally leads Conners to the next day, the day after Groundhog Day. Just a few of the many unforgettable moments in Groundhog Day: Phil: I'm a god. I'm not the God...I don't think.
Phil: There is a major network interested in me.
Rita: Are you drunk or something?
Rita: I like to see a man of advancing years throwing caution to the wind. It's inspiring in a way.
Rita: Would you like to come to dinner with Larry and me?
Phil: Do you ever have déjà vu Mrs. Lancaster?
Phil: Can I be serious with you for a minute?
Phil: Can I talk to you about a matter that's not work related?
Phil: What would you do if you were stuck in one place and every day was exactly the same and nothing you did mattered?
Rita: Have you ever had déjà vu?
Rita: What did you do today?
Felix's wife: Dr. Conners. I want to thank you again for fixing Felix's back. He can even help around the house again. Go To Page: 1 2
