Mason: Are you sure you're ready for this?
Vince Larkin (John Cusack): So what are you going to do now? One powerful quote from Castor Troy in Face/Off reveals the intensity of the movie, "Isn't this religious. Ah yes. The eternal struggle between good and evil, saint and sinners...but you are still not having fun." His intensity was also apparent in the 1998 film, Snake Eyes. He followed this and his other action packed roles with a much milder one as Seth, an angel, in City of Angels. Cage once said in an interview with Mirabella, "I've never been one to sit on a fence. I like to seize the day. I think the universe appreciates that. Within reason, you know." Cage especially reflects this in his preparation for the parts he plays. For his action roles, he went on a strict diet and exercise plan, and he also studied action star Harrison Ford. Before City of Angels, Cage practiced blinking less because he felt this would make him seem more like an angel and less human. The realism Cage creates in his characters is reflected in one of the movie's most memorable scenes, when Seth asks Maggie (Meg Ryan) to describe a pear. Seth: What's that like? What's it taste like? Describe it like Hemingway. Nicolas Cage has also been one to seize the day in his personal life. He changed his name while in his teens, despite opposition from his family, because he did not want the pressure that came with being a Coppola. He wanted to succeed on his own talent. He also proposed to his wife, Patricia Arquette, the day he met her. At the time in 1987, Arquette was a little shocked, but she overcame it and asked Cage to marry her in 1995.
