START PLACE: Battery Park, Lower Manhattan Registration Time: 6:30 A.M. to 7:30 A.M. Ride starts: 8:00 A.M. DISTANCE: 42 miles / 68 kilometers SIZE: 28,000 cyclists FEE: $18 if registered before April 4 $22 from April 5 to April 25 (MAIL DEADLINE) $30 on the day of the event $18 per person if three or more register together prior to April 25 ROUTE: Beginning in Manhattan, the ride goes clockwise through the 5 boroughs of NYC. All sorts of neighborhoods are visited. The ride concludes with a festival on Staten Island, and a free return trip aboard the Staten Island Ferry back to Manhattan. REST STOPS: Four along the route to provide fruit, water, bike repair, assistance and medical aid. HELP: SAG wagons follow the ride for those who are tired, and who have mechanical breakdowns. Emergency Medical Service on hand for those with medical needs. PUBLIC Bicycles are allowed on all city subway lines. TRANSIT: Regular fare applies. Bicycles are allowed on the Long Island Railroad, Metro North and PATH trains. No bike permits are required for this day only. Free "Bike Aboard" permits are required to take your bike on New Jersey Transit.
