In the Mountain Biker environment, the value or need to have a Cyclocomputer is often questioned. The truth is that regardless of whether you're mountain biking or road riding, a Cyclocomputer is not a necessity, but a nice to have item. If you can get past that bump in the trail, then the next question that might come up is, "why wireless?" I'm glad you asked. Unlike the need to have a Cyclocomputer, the need to have it as a wireless device is a necessity, if you are going to use it mountain biking. The hazards like bushes, sticks, broken branches, and the dozen other things that get caught on your bike make the standard wired Cyclocomputer obsolete in the maintain bike arena.
I've had a number of wireless Cyclocomputers and didn't expect much from the Performance Axiom 8.0W. Most of the Cyclocomputers I've have had suffered from a range of problems, everything from intermittent to erratic operation. That's why I was pleasantly surprised the quality of the Performance Axiom. It continues to do everything it's suppose to do with no need to tweak its position or replace the complete unit every few months. The Performance Axiom 8.0W Wireless Cyclocomputer is currently priced at $39.99 and can only be purchased from the Performance Company. It comes with all of the basis features that you would expect from a Cyclocomputer. Those features are, speed measured in MPH or KPH, average speed, maximum speed, trip distance, total distance traveled odometer, stopwatch, ride timer, clock and a pace indicator that tells you when you are riding at, above or below your average speed. The Axiom 8.0W Wireless Cyclocomputer also provides you with the ability to program the device for two different wheel sizes. This feature permits you to move the Axiom 8.0W Wireless Cyclocomputer between two different bikes. This requires you to purchase a second Cyclocomputer mount and transmitter but it is worth the few extra bucks for the convenience. Another programmability feature is the odometer input option. This feature lets you transfer your old odometer reading to the new Cyclocomputer. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it's nice to keep track of all the miles you and your bike have covered. The Axiom 8.0W Wireless Cyclocomputer is also waterproof, at least against rain and garden hoses. I wouldn't go diving with it or expose it to a pressure washer, but it has never fogged up in the year that I have had it. In that year my Axiom 8.0W Wireless Cyclocomputer has seen 1200 trail miles and has worked great. Go To Page: 1 2
