Mountain Biker, Chris tells us of his spring ridding odyssey.
Once we got to the trailhead my dad got a flat. No problem, right? WRONG! His “rim-strip” had completely disintegrated, which caused the flat in the first place. No problem, just use some tape from the first aid kit in the car. Ok, now we can go, right? WRONG! Neither of our pumps wants to stay on the valve, causing a job that should of taken 5 min to take almost a half an hour. Ok, now we can go. I was rewarded for my troubles by some of the nicest singletrack I’ve ever laid my eyes on. It started off with a nice uphill that was both steep, root infested, and covered in fallen logs, much fun. Once my poor, weak body got to the top, my efforts were rewarded with the first downhill of the season, WOAH! Then the real fun started. Since it was the first time we were out on that particular trail, we brought along a book that had a suggested route. Of course, we got lost. It didn't matter. I swear we were going the wrong way on that trail. After much fun jumping off logs, we came to what looked like a bobsled track carved out of sandstone, which was odd because there isn't any sandstone around here. I was almost to the top, when my feet slipped off my pedals (there are brand new Shimano 545's in the mail) I had to walk the rest. Ok, now we wait for dad. We waited, waited, and waited. Five minutes had passed and still no dad. I started wondering what had happened, I went back down that bobsled track, which was the most fun I’d had up to that point. When I get to t he bottom, there's dad, wondering how the hell he's goanna get up there. I tell him we had been going the wrong way for the past 45 min. Go To Page: 1 2
