Internet Bike Product Review series - Mountain Bikes

USA writes: I have been riding mtb's for 8 years and have seen many designs which all work ok but theyall have their problems, But the Cannondale SV 2000 which I have seems to be the best overall of all the designs. Absolutely bombproof swingarm pivot, doesn't creek like all the others. I did replace the fork with a rock shock judy DH because I wanted more travel up front. This machine soaks up everything the trail has to offer such as small bumps to boulders. If you are looking for full suspension then look no further this is (the) machine. Overall Rating: 5

To all you hardtail junkies...get a clue and stop over analysing the URT, cause first of all you are wrong in your assumtion of how it works. I am not even going to get into it either. It is the best bike I have ever owned and I will see you on the trails as I blow right by you!!! C-ya! Overall Rating: 5

Date: December 16, 1997 Captain a weekend warrior from Gothenburg, Sweden writes: During a recent vacation in Florida I took advantage of the cheap prices of bikes in the US compared to here in Sweden, and bought myself a '97 Joshua Z1. I'm basically a weekend-warrior, but there's a series of 6 or 7 long-distance races in Sweden that I like to compete in too. The elite racers with their win-or-bust b@lls-out attitude can keep their super-lightweight fully-sponsored hardtail single-track stallions. If I'm about to torture myself in a knarly 112Km race, then a little bit of comfort goes a lonnnnng way in boosting the grin-factor for the day. The Z1 provides the correct mixture of performance & comfort that I was longing for, and having the rear shock lock-out option means that I don't suffer on the long climbs - and the technical sections are now a delight to ride! OK, the bike isn't perfect and it may not be as efficient as my old hard-tail on the climbs, but it's an excellent bike overall - especially for someone who's competitive spirit still allows for having fun. Roll on the '98 season! - I'm ready & waiting!!! . 'Captain' Morgan Overall Rating: 4
