A feel good bicycling EventWe who cycle, do it because we love the way it makes us feel. What if you could ride and help someone else feel better at the same time. That's the plan at "The Floating Hospital's Children's Cancer Center" at New England Medical Center in Boston is having a fund raiser, it's called "Cycle for Life". The fund raiser is to help Child Life Therapy, for children undergoing difficult chemotherapy at the hospital. This is not money for research or labs. The money goes to the children to provide toys, games, videos, computers, Teen-groups, playroom facilities and more. For many of the patients, this will help give them the courage to face what are surely difficult times. Registration is $15.00 and riders are asked to collect at least $250.00 in sponsor money. If you work for a corporation, ask your company to sponsor you. Many corporations offer a matching Gift Plan. If you own or work for a company that would like to donate products or services for the ride please let them know. These gifts will be much appreciated. The ride is on Saturday Sept 9, 2000. The ride covers approximately 50 miles in northeast Massachusetts. It starts in Marblehead, MA at Devereaux Beach and runs along the coast to Gloucester, west to Essex and back to Marblehead. It will have a catered water stop at around the halfway point and a grilled lunch at the end, free ride T shirts to participants, water bottles, mechanic, sag wag etc. More info can be gotten at their website http://www.cycleforlife.com or call 617 636 5535 or fax 617 636 7738.
