One of our readers, John Kopp has shared another of his road trips with us. Thank you John for being our roving reporter.

One of the premier vacation spots on the East Coast is Cape Cod. When thinking about Cape Cod, one often thinks of the sea breezes and the wonderful beaches. If you happen to go in that direction, do not forget to take your bike. Cape Cod boasts one of the earliest converted rails to trail situations in the nation. Twenty-five miles of paved rail trail makes for some very scenic and pleasant riding, especially if taken in sections during the early evening hours after a day of sight seeing, shopping or burning and swimming on the beach.

The trail starts in Dennis on Rt. 134 and now ends slightly more than 25 miles away in Wellfleet. It passes through salt marshes, wooded areas, near beaches and offers numerous side trips to historically significant or scenic areas. Maps and booklets are available in the many bike shops and book stores. For more technical riders, the National Seashore in Provincetown provides more challenging trails. Cape Cod also offers a number of bikeways for road enthusiast. Regardless of your favorite type of riding you will find it there.
