Best of the Web – New York Riders Dot ComThe New York Riders Dot Com is a site dedicated to Ten of the best Bikeways and Trailways in the New York area. Bikeways and Trailways are paths that have been cut through parks or along parkways, which often include scenic or historical locations. On these types of paths you will find the young and the adult, walkers, joggers, bikers, and rollerbladers. As you may have already concluded, the pathways are great for families and casual rides. If you're looking speed and risk, I suggest avoiding the pathways. The people traffic on a warm week can be very heavy and the threat of collision multiplies when combined with impatience. I spend most of my riding time on the dirt trials but when ever the trails are too wet to ride and I still want to go for a spin, I hit the Pathways. What the New York Riders Dot Com site lacks in graphics, flashy bells and whistles it more than makes up for in content. The site is maintained and run by Tom M at NYRides@aol.com. Tom has put together detailed descriptions of the terrain with insights to the condition of the road surfaces, as well as suggested starts and stop location, that include landmarks and directions. If it wasn't for people Tom, we might not have the pleasure of knowing about local metropolitan treasures like those listed at his site that provide a safe escape from motorized traffic. I applaud you Tom, Thank You!
