Cherish Your Riding Timeby: Joey Proulx from Manchester, NH, USA from the pages of MBR! Last Summer my mountain bike was stolen from outside a convenience store. Now, it wasn't the nicest or most expensive bike, and I'm no Tinker, but the fact is, it was MY bike. Now, because of someone else's selfishness and my lack of cash, I will be spending the summer watching other bikers tear up the local trails. I won't be able to climb any demanding hills, fly down any sweet singletrack, or get the feeling of swooping by someone on a rocky descent anymore. I guess what I'm trying to say is to just enjoy mountain biking like it was meant to be enjoyed. Don't overemphasize training, nutrition, or race results, rather feel the breeze as it whistles through your helmet, smell the flowers as you take a water break, or notice the way the sun gleams through the trees. Don't take it too seriously or become too stressed, even if you don't win all your races or keep up with your riding buddies, because some day it may all be gone, and the only memories you'll have will be the ones of anger, pain, and stress. Hopefully someday I will again be able to ride again....................
