Well here goes..Saterday two weeks ago was a beautiful day. I woke about 7am and thought what a great day to shed some trails. I phoned several friends who I normally ride with but they all had plans with their respective girlfriends, (o.k so i'm single) Well I thought,, to bad this was a mission day and it had to be done..hay I'll probably meet someone I know out.

I packed up the car and drove an hour or so to some of the most outragous tracks in a place called Rotorua. There I met a guy my Dad Knows and rode with him. We rode the national DH tracks for about 5 hours, I felt like I was totally ripping, the fastest I had ever gone ! the buzz was total. toward the end of the day we were heading back to the car along some steep grass banks that followed a local road. I came flying around this corner hooting and hollering, absolutly going for broke. My hole body hert from head to toe from the past few hours but all I could think about was going faster ! I had 1 foot down and the rear tire bouncing around this corner, I lined up the strait and barrelled on forward. My legs hert beyond belief so I sat down for just a minute. Thats when it happened.

I don't remember a lot, just the bars jack-knife'in and my thum disslocating from the pressure. The left end of the bar dug the ground and stopped ( I guess at this point I thought I was doing about 50kph, I was later told it was more 45) or should I say the bike stopped I just kept going. I felt like I rolled for ever, all I could hear was my precious bike crashing after me. When I stopped I wwaited for the bike to hit me but it sailed clean past and lande about 10 metres down the slope. Pain erupted from about 5 different points over my body, my knee felt as though I'd stabbed it repeatably with a very sharp knike and I had a rather large grass burn from my shoulder to my hip and my hand hert a bit as well.

My new friends stopped to express their praise for my artistic form and lack of grace during the landing. And of course to help me up and retrive my bike. The bike was in pretty good shape considering, the right hand brake ( front ) lever was smashed clean of the bar and the back rim now rubbs the frame but apart from that every things stright. We continued down the hill back to the car, pain all the way but also I couldn't help smiling. Man I was go'in fast !
