Blue Mountain Reservation is great place for Mountain Biking. It has a wide variety trails that range from beginner, intermediate to advanced. The trails are clearly marked via painted circles and arrows at various points.

The Beginner trail is a series of gentle rounding hills but with mostly flats and is marked by yellow markers. This combination still allows the beginner to be challenged and get a taste of the dirty. Its about 3.5 miles around trip.

The Intermediate trail provides steeper climbs and faster descents with a couple of small wooden bridges. The trail is marked by orange markers. This trail crisscross with the green hiking trail, some caution and mountain bike etiquette should be used at these points which are marker by combination of orange and green. This trail is about 6 miles around and does have a single track segment.

The Advanced trail is a nice challenge with several steep climbs and rapid descents with many obstacles that will temp you to step off your ride and lift. These things include rocks and fallen trees. The trail is marked in red. There are at least two dangers I must warn you about. The first, you may never come across, but it has happen to me twice. The deer population is a little high. You must keep an eye out for them, as they will trot across the trail. The second problem is a gun and rifle range to the east of the Advanced trail. It is clearly marked but you should take care not to stray off the red trail into the unknown. This trail is about 3.6 miles around and does have a single track segment.

Blue Mountain Reservation is located in Peekskill, NY. To get to Blue Mountain, take Rt. 9 to Welcher Ave in Peekskill, and turn east. Continue straight up Welcher, across Washington, and into the park.
