I have my daughter spying on my mother for me . Samantha is in Michigan spending the day with her Grandmother as I write. My mother had another health scare last month, chest pains accompanied by elevated blood pressure . Although one of my nieces is still at home with Mom, I felt Samantha could get a fresh look and let me know just how healthy and well she appears.
Samantha or myself have not seen my Mom since January, I know Sam will give me a good account of her grandmother’s appearance and demeanor. I wish I could get up to visit her myself but since I was unable to make the trip sending in a secret agent seemed my best option. Samantha is due back this next week and I’m sure she will give me a detailed report. I did try to inquire over the phone . I was told Grandma looks good . Giving me one-word answers to my questions though I gather that there is more. Samantha didn’t want to go into detail as Grandma was sitting close by. When I asked if I should worry, She said “ No “, knowing I will anyway. While I was speaking to my mom she jokingly asked when my husband was going to get to work building the mother-in-law cottage we’ve dreamed about in the past. Could this be a sign that mom needs a little more security? Maybe, she just misses me. Whatever the reason it sure did get me thinking that we need to start doing a little more concrete planning for the day Mom can move in with us. I think we should start out slow, like having her spend winters here in the south once my niece finishes school, which will be in a couple years time. Samantha will be busy getting ready to finish high school and I’ll tell mom I need more help with the younger children. She is always ready to jump in when one of her kids needs help. I would like to do the same for her, although she rarely asks. Meanwhile, when I can not investigate the needs myself I will continue to send my secret agent. Go To Page: 1
