My daughter,Samantha’s everyday shoes were wearing out. Her laces were actually one lace cut in half and used to lace each shoe. I know I waited to long to start shopping for her shoes but shoe shopping with Samantha is not one of my favorite activities.
While wandering around the mall just before Easter I came across, a pair of name brand athletic shoes at a great price and in Samantha’s size, women’s eleven. I know that is big for a fourteen year old and it certainly makes it difficult to find reasonably priced shoes in a style she will wear. She wasn’t with me though and I wanted to be sure they would fit, so I didn’t purchase them. Since she had a four-day weekend from school starting on Good Friday, I decided to take her with me to check out those shoes. I had also volunteered to take my grandson for the afternoon. Off we went, me, Samantha, my two-year old grandson and my three-year-old son. I should have realized from the beginning that the odds were stacked against me. The great priced shoes made Samantha’s feet look “to big”. Nevertheless, I budgeted for those shoes and was determined not to go over my budget. She did find a very nice pair. Unfortunately, they were twice as expensive. Samantha did offer to pay the difference but forgot to bring her money with her, besides she is saving for cheerleading camp. So that idea was nixed. We decided to check out some of the other stores in the mall. By the time we made it across the Mall and to a larger department store, the boys were tired. Okay I confess, I was tired and I still had several errands to run. I’ll leave out all the details and just say that when we left the mall empty handed, the boys were the only ones with smiles on their faces. I suggested to my husband that perhaps he should take her shoe shopping. Are there any catalogues we can order from was his answer. In theory, this did not sound like a bad idea. If they did not fit or had something else wrong I would have to take them to the post office and send them back. The hassle of exchanging them would be just as exhausting. Determined not to give up or let this minor task get the better of me I decided I would give it another try on Monday. Go To Page: 1 2
