My daughter will learn on the road. As part of my new job, in my profession (which revolves around environmental and energy issues), I must travel. Alot.
Our first jaunt together is fast approaching. We will travel to San Diego, home city of the most fabulous zoo in the nation, and possibly the world. Another family member will accompany us on our sojourn. the three of us will get to spend some time together, amidst my lengthy meetings and workshops and presentations. I am so looking forward to this travel with my gal, Hannah. Each day now I show her the map and talk to her about East and West and states between. I show her the place from which we will fly and the place to which we will go. She is getting quite handy with geography for a little pip sqeak. I am quite proud, of course. Our time together in San Diego, as condensed as it will be, is going to be wonderful for the three of us. My daughter ADORES animals, and likes to fly. She's already been on planes over a dozen times. She always chooses the window seat. Like I do. When I fly with her, she gets the choice seat, of course. On our last flight together, she sat, as usual, next to the window, which she kept darkened with the built-in pull-down shade. She opened it after a while, to see what she could from 30,000 feet. The day was overcast, and we were well above the clouds. Looking at me out of the corner of her eye, she asked "can you roll down the window, so I can touch the clouds?" Someday, I believe that she will.
