Then, he allowed my little girl to join in with him as he led his energetic, if less than coordinated, crew of soccer tots in a "jog" along the outskirts of the field. He was in front, the shirt-clad clan tripped and skipped behind him, my daugher included (sans the soccer shirt).

After this vigorous workout, the coach said "drinks everyone!" The whole team (seven of them, one short of a "team") sprinted off in different directions, like so many billiard balls, after their "sport cups." In this case, the cups, with their oversized capacity and super-elongated straws, were practically TALLER than the little players who stood in their enormous shirts slurping loudly and listening for their coach's whistle.

"I want to join this team," chirped my girl. So, of course, I signed her up, telling her that we were not gauranteed a spot. As luck would have it, we were later informed that there was no spot on THIS particular team, but that there were seven - yes, SEVEN - other kindergarten-aged girls soccer teams in our little town. Really! No kidding.

Now I am on a mission. I must not fail. I may even buy a Golden Retriever. In fact, I may use my lime green cell phone to call up the local breeder and request the pick of the litter. He'll give it to me gladly, because I am a soccer mom!
