One of the most popular and enduring of all mythical creatures is the unicorn, a creature which is probably second only to the dragon in its influence in both historical iconography and popular culture. In fact, unicorn lore is so sought after that it is likely that some readers will find their way to this site with the specific intent of searching for unicorn-related pages. Here is a brief selection of sites for the unicorn lover in your life:
A beautiful page by fantasy artist Matthew Webber, featuring galleries of beautiful equine images. Unicorns are Matthew's focus, but Centaurs, Pegasi and portraits of individual horses also appear. The site also includes a well-organized section on unicorn lore (under construction, but frequently updated), and links to other attractive fantasy and mythical creature sites. Matthew and friends are also working on a petition to have the word "Alicorn" (meaning "a unicorn's horn") formally recognized in the Oxford English Dictionary. Any unicorn experts who know of literary sources which make use of this word can drop them a line at "THE ALICORN PROJECT" through this site. Unicorn Island

This page is notable for its impressive collection of unicorn poetry and lyrics, as well as a number of links to Adopt-a-Unicorn sites. ( But don't forget to Adopt a Daemon (http://come.to/adoptdaemons) while you're at it. Unicorns aren't the only monsters who need love!)
The Last Unicorn

A detailed fan page for the essential novel and screenplay by Peter S. Beagle. Features lyrics and dialogue from the animated feature and links to sound clips and images. (The Last Unicorn novel, animated film and CD soundtrack are all still in print, and can be ordered through most on-line booksellers.)
Another recommended page for fans of "The Last Unicorn", Paladin's Last unicorn page features a large collection of stills from the animated film, including a number of attractive frames featuring the unicorn in the forest and as her equally lovely alter ego, Lady Amalthea.
