Bernstein has difficulty with NPM's process of making poetry "accessible." He reiterates his complaint, but when he suggests the facetious alternative of forming an "International Anti-Poetry month" which forbids all sorts of poetry, he mentions the very kinds of "poetry" that he is railing against: Mother Goose, verse passages in scripture, Black preaching, the musical Cats, love letters, vocal music on the radio, slapping and counting and singing games of children; all of these kinds of writing are "mainstream."
