Multiplayer BattleTech: 3025 Cancelled
Coming on the heels of the layoff announcements over at EA.com, this cancellation was not really much of a surprise. The word on the web site was "Our Beta is now coming to a close and plans to release Multiplayer BattleTech: 3025 as a subscription-only game will not move forward as planned. On December 6, 2001, the MPBT servers will be shut down." A moment of silence, please.......
NCsoft Corporation has announced that a special Lineage: The Blood Pledge CD-ROM will now be available for purchase at more than 600 Electronics Boutique locations throughout the United States and Canada for $2.99. Previously, Lineage had been available exclusively through download at http://www.lineage-us.com . Gamers who download Lineage from the site receive a 30-day free trial; however, gamers purchasing the CD-ROM at Electronics Boutique will receive an extra 15 days of free game time. After the trial period, players are charged $15USD/month, with a special money-saving subscription plan of four months for $11.25USD/month. A lot of US players don't know much about Lineage, even though it is the leading subscription-based MMOG, with more than three million (yes, million!) subscribers. The game can carry up to 250,000 concurrent users! Online since 1998, Lineage: The Bloodpledge, is a medieval fantasy-type game that was developed in Korea, where players became totally obsessed with the game. Now, Lineage has set its sights on the North American market. Richard Garriott's new Destination Games is part of NCSoft, and is working to support the U.S. Lineage drive operation. If anyone can make it work, I'd say Richard Garriott's the one! In fact, it's already been announced that the great one himself - Lord British - will be making an appearance in the game. Lineage: The Blood Pledge is definitely going to be the game to watch in upcoming months.
