CITY OF HEROES
Cryptic Studios has announced that they have a new MMOG in the works - City of Heroes. In City of Heroes, players will create their own "superhero" characters, choose their skills and powers, and design a custom costume. Heroes can be chosen from one of several "Origins", which affect how many different powers a hero can have, and how far those powers can be developed. The Origin types include Mutant, Altered Human, Magical Powers, Superior Human, Gadgeteer, Mystic Artifacts, and Cyberware. There will be over 40 different powers to choose from, as well as a 'costume creation' system that will allow players to mix and match clothing pieces, hair, facial features, costume details, colors, textures, and patterns - creating millions of possible unique heroes.

Hero players will be able to team up and pool their wealth and resources to buy mansions or even skyscrapers for use as a base. These bases will be upgradable as heroes gain fame, money and experience points. To keep a base, a hero must continue to earn reward money and sustain his/her "fame" rating. There will also be in-game storage in the form of "bank vaults.

An 'Arena System' is being developed to accommodate those who like the experience of Player vs. Player (PvP) combat. There will even be an option for teams of superheroes to fight against one another, and place wagers on the outcome.

City of Heroes is scheduled for release in the summer of 2002, with open beta testing beginning in the spring of 2002. For more information, check out the official web site here:

DARK AGE OF CAMELOT RELEASED
Mythic Entertainment's long-anticipated 'Dark Age of Camelot' is now live and available at a game retailer near you! DAoC is set in Europe's mythological past, combining the Arthurian legend, Norse mythology and Irish Celtic lore. The launch appears to have been relatively quiet and problem free, which is a great relief after the Anarchy Online and World War II Online launch debacles! Now, if I could just get time to play...
