If this sounds like just the MMOG experience you’ve been waiting for, wait no longer! The game is currently in open beta, and you can request a Beta CD from the site or download the game directly from FilePlanet. (Be warned, the download is huuuge, at over 400mg.)
The beta information can be found here: http://www.motorcityonline.com/beta/beta...Asheron’s Call: ‘Keep Your Enemies Closer’ September Update
As always, Turbine’s keeping the players of Asheron’s Call on their toes. The newest update, ‘Keep Your Enemies Closer,’ introduces many changes to the world of Dereth. The season has changed to fall, as evidenced by the changes to foliage and animal hides. Travelers are reporting a change in the locations, numbers, and types of creatures found. New creatures have been spotted, and it is always wise to wonder what treachery the Virindi are hatching. Last but not least, adventurers can finally get a good look at the player housing that will be available with the Dark Majesty expansion. Check out the developer and build notes for the update here: http://zone.msn.com/asheronscall/news/se...
Codemasters Announces New MMOG – ‘Dragon Empires’
Set for release in Q2 2002, Codemasters has announced ‘Dragon Empires.’ In a world where the lives of humans and dragons are intertwined and magic is plentiful, players will strive to rule cities and empires, as they participate in group combat as members of warring clans. Players will be able to engage in PvP combat anywhere, anytime, but will risk becoming an outlaw by doing so. Outlaws instantly become marked men, facing the wrath of other players and, worse yet, dragons. Says Ted Carron, producer of Dragon Empires: "We're confident no other MMORPG will provide the fiercely competitive balanced battles that Dragon Empires will create an arena for."
Funcom Shows Off Their Next MMOG - Midgard
Funcom, the producer of Anarchy Online, is already hard at work on its next offering – Midgard. Although the game was announced at E3 earlier this year, the industry got its first real look at the game at the ECTS. Ragnar Tornquist, the designer of adventure game ‘The Longest Journey,’ is leading Midgard’s development. The game is to present a new model for online gaming that won’t rely on combat for character advancement. Players will need to collect materials and use trade skills to create the items needed in the game and support their villages. No NPC-operated shops in this game! There will be few “monsters” to fight, buy many forest animals to be hunted. Sounds interesting! Check out the official site here: http://www.worldofmidgard.com/
