From the perspective of one baseball fan, the Diamondbacks are a great story. On a roster filled with with veterans, most of which have never won a World Series, the D’Backs could give a lot of joy to a group of guys playing out end of their careers. Curt Schilling has been the ultimate competitor throughout the playoffs. Many fans would love to see him rewarded for the enthusiastic approach he takes to the game.

So far, the story of this Fall Classic is the Diamondback offense. In Game 1, they were aided be poor Yankee defense and managed to put up nine runs. In Game 2, Matt Williams took advantage of a timely mistake by Andy Pettite. In both cases, of course, Arizona got dominant performances from Johnson and Schilling.

Who’s the MVP for the Diamondbacks thus far? If you want a pitcher, it’s a tie between Johnson and Schilling. If you want a non-pitcher, Matt Williams has gotten it done so far, but Reggie Sanders has been on base consistently.

If you want an offensive MVP for the Yankees, you’ve got to go with the only players who has more than one hit: Jorge Posada, 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 RBI.
