Injuries are definitely a factor. This could be the most difficult of the arguments to prove. On the surface, it seems logical that older players would be injured more often than younger players. Bodies wear out and start developing nagging injuries. But teams of all ages suffer terrible injuries that can hurt a team. Kerry Wood went down, and Chicago lost hope. Last season, Manny Ramirez and Jaret Wright were young players on an “old” team, but it was their injuries that played a large part in the Indians’ disappointing season.
