Play Off Fever

1. White Sox and A's. Any baseball fan enjoys seeing young talent like the White Sox and the A's have. They are great teams with players who have continually risen to the occasion during the season. But can the teams keep all of these young talents. Here's Peter Gammons notes on the two teams: http://espn.go.com/gammons/s/0923.html

2. Parity Keep this in mind: we will not have any team reach 100 wins or 100 losses this season. Its also possible that we could see an even rarer feat. No teams with winning percentages above .600 or below .400. Bud Selig calls this an abberation, but it could be a sign that things are starting to even out again.

3. Playoff Hopefuls In the NL, its set: Atlanta, New York, San Francisco, and St. Louis. In the AL, we still have race for playoff spots. Chicago has clinched, and New York is close. But who will get the final two spots? With Cleveland, Oakland, and Seattle vying, look for the A's to make it either with the Wild Card or Division title. If the Mariners make it to the playoffs, their only chance will be with the Division title. If the Mariners don't win the division, then Cleveland will win the Wild Card.

4. Get 'Em Next Year If your team is already out of it, maybe they can pick up a free agent or two to put them over the edge. The Sporting News is tracking all of the potential free agents. http://www.sportingnews.com/baseball/fre...
