The "Cold" Season

Hello people, I realize that I'm a stranger in a strange land. I've been consumed by school and work and Lord knows what else, but we still gotta eat...right? Sure we do. This is my favorite season for food. For some reason you feel that you have to bulk up against the cold weather and the colds and flu that are waiting out there for us. I have had a cold that hung on so long, I've made three different chicken soup concoctions to get rid of it. I've enjoyed the soups, but my cold's still here.

This is my favorite food season for reasons like beef stew, chili, beans, soups, stews. I get to break out my crockpot. Plus you get to make good hot drinks like ciders and various blends of hot chocolate - I once found 'white hot chocolate with a raspberry flavor. Mmmm.

I'd like to introduce you to Linda's Kitchen. Linda has some great recipes. Have you ever heard of "Oven Fried Rice"? It sounds very good and easy to make. Linda also has a great recipe for homemade spaghetti sauce, something I haven't found the nerve to try to make myself.

More recently I was graced with a recipe for "Linda's Inferno Salsa." My boys and I love salsa - it's very versatile and can be welcomed at any meal.

Here for your eating pleasure is

Linda's Inferno Salsa

  • 3 5 1/2oz (little) cans of Tomato Paste
  • 1 680mL (big) can of Tomato Sauce
  • 5 large tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper
  • 6 jalepeno peppers or any other hot peppers
  • 1 large onion
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 1 Tbsp of hot pepper sauce

Chop up all the veggies and mix it all together in a crockpot and cook on high for 1 hour then low for 1 hour. Let cool 1 hour then store in jars. Fills about 3 large salsa jars. You could also cook it in a large pot for about 1 hour.
