If you're thinking about pursuing an education in Mid-East Politics and/or Middle East Studies in general, there are some great universities that will definetely serve your needs. Some of the universities are quite well known, such as New York University or Harvard University but others have as good, or better reputation for providing a comprehensive program.
Moshe Dayan Center for Middle East Affairs is an Israeli program geared to improving understanding of the Middle East and foreign policy. The University of London Center for Islamic and Middle East Law is a great resource for learning about Islamic law - one of the backbones to understanding how the bulk of the Middle East views the rule of law. Given that Islam provides the basic legal code for many countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia and has tremendous sway over Sudan and the Arab Emirates among others, learning how these countries view the legal system is crucial. The University of Pennsylvania has a great Middle Eastern program - on the same level as the other Ivy League programs. The University of Texas has one of the best Middle Eastern programs and websites online. I have honored them as having one of the top Middle East Politics sites because their site is so thorough as to the politics, culture, history and economic forces that guide the countries of the Middle East.
