Thank You Mr. President, But More Must Be Done

I want to thank you for your outrage against Hamas and the Palestinian Authority for their failure to contain terrorism against Israel.

In the aftermath of the terrorist bombing at Hebrew University, I have noted the general lack of outrage against the Palestinian Authority and Hamas in papers throughout the world, not to mention world capitals in Europe and Asia. Has it become acceptable for Israelis to be forced to submit to incessant terrorist bombings without being able to carry out the inalienable right to defend themselves from such attacks? Fortunately, you have strongly condemned the terrorist actions, but I think more must be done.

Israel is lambasted each time it strikes at known terrorist leaders, especially if there are collateral casualties. The silence, however, is deafening, when Israelis are targeted while eating lunch in a university cafeteria, dancing in a disco, or eating at a cafe. This is not moral equivalence. It is right and wrong and those who have not spoken out against the madness of terrorist bombings are only encouraging further attacks.

With the loss of American lives, it may be time for the US to take direct action against the Hamas terrorist organization. To let them escape without harm, would send a message to other terrorist organizations in the region that it would be acceptable for US citizens and installations to be targeted directly.

Sincerely,

Michael L. Siegel
