It has been a while since I've added to my list of resources for Middle East Politics. Part of that has been because there hasn't been too many new sites that have caught my attention or added to the realm of information that would be most beneficial to readers. These two sites that I'm showcasing here are among the best new sites I've seen. If you disagree or think that I'm overlooking something, please drop me a note or enter their URLs in a discussion from this article. The first site, The International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism, is a timely web site given the recent terrorist bombings suspected to be carried out by Osama Bin-Ladin and the need for a critical review of what countries around the world are doing to protect their citizens and national interests in the face of terrorists and subversive elements. The web site includes a special section on the Arab-Israeli conflict and highlights the organizations and possible supporting nations/nationalities. It includes some of the major attacks my these groups, their base(s) of operation, financial backings and basic purposes and goals of the organizations. For someone looking to get a thumbnail of terrorists in the region, this is a great way to quickly get an idea of the groups and claimed purposes of each group. The second web site, The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, is a partisan think-tank whose purpose is to highlight the joint US-Israeli strategic relationship. This site has a tremendous assortment of articles and resources for researchers and the casual user who wants to learn more about this very complex relationship. JINSA is a good site to use in conjunction with Steven L. Spiegel's book The Other Arab-Israeli Conflict: Making America's Middle East Policy, from Truman to Reagan (University of Chicago Press, 1985). Spiegel's book, although dated at this point, is extremely good to get a sense of history and how the Arab-Israeli Conflict hasn't just been fought in the Middle East but in the hallways of Washington, D.C.
