Biodefense Strategy

We are more than two years into a global war on terror supporting states, yet most people don't even realize this is the case.

Why is that? Could it be that the economy isn't on a war footing, because we haven't mobilized millions of troops all over the world? Could it be because there aren't huge armoured battles where thousands of tanks are engaged with each other? Where navies are slugging it out over the horizon trying sink each others battleships as it were.

This is a war being fought by dozens of countries, in hundreds of places that no one has even heard of. Shadow warriors are fighting against terrorist strongholds in the mountain ranges of Afghanistan and Pakistan. They fight in the lawless areas of Chechnya. They fight in Gaza and the West Bank.

This is a fight akin to a disease and the world is the body. A deadly cancer. It's a silent killer, but the fight is bloody, awful, and eminently winnable if the body and mind are committed to winning it.

Some fights require surgery to excise the cancerous tumors that can metastasize like Iraq and Afghanistan. These tumors require constant and vigilant attention so they do not reoccur, which means pinpoint strikes against flare ups that can invade other vital organs.

Even on this point, the treatment options are not unified, as some think that the radical treatment being pursued is only doomed to failure or was not even warranted in the first place. Disease management was the preferred option, since it could be controlled. Stability of the patient was assured, even as the body was slowly wasting away at a barely perceptible rate.

The radical treatment was swift, harsh, and left the organs in dire straits. Cancer cells continue to exist and can reinfect what's left of the organs. However, there are hunter T-cells and white blood cells on the case to make sure that the cancers are defeated. There is also additional treatment that can be taken to excise those cancer cells before they become formed into another tumor.

Neighboring organs may have been infected with the tumor, or they even could have been the source for the cancers, but they too are being treated. There is a spillover effect from the radical treatment. The body has a way of communicating without having to say a word when it has been distressed and it has ways of fixing itself, both internally and externally.
