Is Pakistan More Dangerous than Iran?between the U.S. and Pakistan. Couple that with the fact that Pakistan has an existing nuclear arsenal this clearly makes then a bigger threat than Iran currently is and should force Pakistan to dismantle their nuclear weapons. They should have done this as a requirement to receive such a large amount of aid. I, however, don't think that Pakistan, due to their current relations with India, would be willing to let go of their nuclear deterrent. I also don't believe that the radical Jamiat-e-Ulema-I-Islami would let those nuclear weapons go. They could come in handy as a deterrent against future aggression or for use as a bargaining tool to get what they want. Either way, a nuclear weapon in the hands of a radical Muslim government is a scary thought. In conclusion, I think that the United States needs to take a step back and take a good look at what is going on in Pakistan as well as its relationship with that country. Perhaps President Bush needs to pressure Musharraf to try to get his political situation under control by making an attempt to control the radical Muslim element and limit their influence on politics in Pakistan. I think that it was a mistake the President Bush gave Pakistan such a large amount of aid and that it might be something that the U.S. regrets in the future. Although Pakistan is on our side for now, at any time, they could turn against us as a result of their radical views and hatred of the west. We need to keep a watchful eye on Pakistan.
