Why it's Important to find Saddam HusseinThat is the question that many are asking. It was thought that the U.S. military had killed Hussein in its initial strike on a compound he and his sons were thought to be in on the first night of the war. It is obvious they missed Saddam but might have killed Uday, according to intelligence reports; then again it is hard to tell. The U.S. struck again on a last minute bombing in an area that they thought Saddam Hussein was reported to be seen. It is still somewhat unclear if that strike was effective but based on intelligence gathered from captured Iraqi officials and other sources, Saddam Hussein is still alive. So why is it so important that Saddam Hussein is found dead or alive? Just ask the soldiers who are trying to keep order in Iraq. It is believed that people are still fighting for Saddam Hussein's government because they still believe he is alive. The cost of this fight can be counted in American lives and it is putting a lot of pressure on the Americans to perform and to secure Iraq to make it a safe place. Something has to be done in order to bring some sort of peace in Iraq and stop these attacks. The only way to do this might be to find Saddam Hussein dead or alive. Why is it so important that the fate of Saddam Hussein is known? As stated above, it is believed that if people think that Saddam Hussein is still alive they will continue to fight for him. These are the people who are initiating attacks against coalition forces. They are most likely former members of Saddam's Fedayeen or his famed security services and they assume that if they keep fighting, they can help bring Saddam back into power. They haven't yet realized that it is impossible that Saddam Hussein could come back and take over Iraq once again. It would be best if they gave up the fight and saved their lives as well as the lives of others. Their cause is hopeless but yet they continue on fighting. The United States government is concentrating a lot of its effort to find Saddam Hussein and his two sons. It has created a special task force named Task Force 20 to search for the fallen leader and his two offspring. This is a joint effort by the United States military, the CIA and the FBI. Its sole mission is to hunt down and capture or kill Saddam Hussein and his two sons Uday and Qusay. Just last week, this task force engaged a convoy that was headed from Iraq into Syria. The escaping convoy was turned back away from the Syrian border. The task force then subsequently attacked the convoy. It has been said that someone from Saddam Hussein's family had made a satellite phone call from the convoy and the task force, with all their electronic eavesdropping equipment over heard this conversation and took action. As of today, it is not known who was in that convoy but officials are saying that everyone is dead and they are checking to see if Saddam Hussein and one or both of his sons were in the convoy.
