No Weapons No ProblemIt is hard to understand what all the fuss is about in not finding any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Even if there weren't any weapons of that sort ever found wouldn't have been justifiable to invade simply based on the fact that Iraqi human rights were being violated by Saddam Hussein and his government and that the Iraqi government supported terrorism? There are many tough questions to answer when in regards to the invasion of Iraq and many people are starting to wonder if it was worth the cost in lives and money that have been spent to date. Was the Bush administration lying about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction? What would motivate the Bush administration to lie about such a thing? Was the war in Iraq justified? I believe that the answer to the last question is yes. Saddam Hussein was not only a brutal ruler but he was also a threat to stability in that region of the world. Some of this threat ties in with the possession of weapons of mass destruction but Saddam also posed a threat to the ongoing process of peace in the Middle East particularly between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Saddam had also, more than likely, assisted terrorists who not only killed Americans but others and may have provided those terrorists with chemical or biological weapons for use in the future and or financial backing or safe harbor in Iraq. So take those points along with the fact that Saddam was a brutal, murderous ruler and you have justification for invasion even without the weapons of mass destruction. The second question is a bit of a tough one to answer. Remember when Colin Powell showed all that evidence to the United Nations Security Council regarding Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program? He gave a lot of seemingly clear evidence that Iraq had a widespread and very active chemical and biological weapons program. He had satellite photographs that showed factories and mobile weapons labs. It seemed as if there would be no problem finding these weapons but there has been. I think that the Bush administration is a victim of both poor intelligence and a good effort by Saddam Hussein to hide the weapons of mass destruction that he possessed. It is possible that they were destroyed in the days and weeks leading up to the March 19th start of the conflict or, what is a very good possibility, is that some of the weapons were shipped to another country (Syria most likely) for safe keeping. Another likely scenario is that they are buried deep in the ground or hidden in a building somewhere that hasn't been searched yet.
