Attacks on the United States – An Iraqi Hand?Does Iraq have the biological agents? Only the Iraqis can say for sure - there have been no United Nations weapons inspections in Iraq since October of 1998. However, in 1995, Iraq admitted that prior to the Gulf War of 1991 they had weaponized the biological warfare agents anthrax, botulinum toxin and aflatoxin. In fact, Iraq had developed enough aflatoxin to kill the world's population seven times. See Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction Programs, a U.S. Government White Paper, released in 1998. According to Iraq's admissions to the United Nations, they had produced 8,500 liters of anthrax, placed it in Scud missile warheads and 250-kilogram bombs, and were conducting research into the use of 155mm artillery shells, artillery rockets, a MiG-21 drone, and aerosol generators as delivery systems. Conclusion It remains to be seen who is behind the anthrax attacks on the United States, or if there is a connection between the terrorist attacks of September 11 and the anthrax incidents. If there is a connection, suspicion will certainly fall on Iraq. If Iraqi complicity is determined, Iraq may - and should - face the same wrath as the Afghan Taliban.
