Service Berry Wine recipe may put a little spirit into your services.
I think I like the sound of shadblow, the best. But the romance and poetry of service berry catches my imagination. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if the shad had ever run all the way to the Appalachian Mountains? Then we may have had the meeting of two weather hardened cultures, the waterman and the mountain man. Imagine how they might have gathered in the midst of a grove of Amelanchier some where between the mountain and the sea and planked shad and sipped serviceberry wine together. Imagine the tales they would have spun to each other as they celebrated renewal and shared sorrows- at once a fete' and a wake. Imagine.......an Amelanchier in your garden.
