By now you've had an opportunity to read the first two articles of the Mid-Atlantic Plantsman and are probably trying to get a feel for what the Plantsman will be about. Well, hopefully it will be a reflection of you. You are the Mid-Atlantic Plantsman, and hopefully it will be timely and address topics of current interest. Simply put, you are the person interested in growing plants in the Mid-Atlantic States and I hope to be a vehicle for expressing information of interest to you. I hope I can discover what you are interested in reading and address those topics. And yes, I do have interests of my own I hope to write about.
I do have a varied background in the plant industry- which qualifies me to be a generalist rather than a specialist. In short, this means I know just enough about any given topic to be dangerous. With this little tidbit of wisdom always in mind, I will endeavor to bring you useful and entertaining commentary on a variety of topics. I will draw from my experience, but more importantly I hope to also benefit from your experience. I will attempt to listen to your commentary as well as create my own. Therefore, I invite your comments and questions in both public discussion forums and via private e-mail. New Discussion Forum Since we are at this point, I would like to open a discussion forum whereby you are invited to list topics you would like to see addressed in the Plantsman. Lets call it "Tell me About.......". This will be a place where you can ask for the articles you want to see. I'm not saying that I will necessarily write on any such subject if I don't feel comfortable with it, but maybe I can help locate other sources of commentary. At any rate I see the 'Tell me About..." forum as an ongoing guide for article ideas. Tomatos, Tomatos, Tomatos We are rapidly approaching tomato season. Here in my neck of the woods, we are just approaching the safe set out date but in some parts of the coastal regions of tidewater, Virginia and the Delmarva Peninsula plants probably have already set fruit. Everyone I know who plants tomatoes seems to have a sure fired method or trick to getting the best tasting, earliest, largest, or most plentiful tomatoes. What I want is for you to share with me your all time best tomato culture advice. I want to know the little tricks you use to achieve tomato bliss. I also want to know what your favorite varieties are. Please feel free to share any of your tomato wisdom so that I might enlighten your neighbors in a future article(s) on tomato culture. Remember, I said YOU were the Plantsman...here's your chance to prove it. You may e-mail your words of tomato wisdom to me at mailto:wabla@juno.com. Then look for it to appear in a future Plantsman article. By the way does any body know what a neighborbeater is? Go To Page: 1 2
