If you're planning to get certified in the MCSE Windows 2000 Track (MS says it will be out 2nd quarter of 2000), then there is 2 ways to go about it, depending on whether you have passed the 3 main Windows NT 4.0 exams:
1) If you HAVE already passed the 3 main Windows NT 4.0 exams (Workstation, Server, and Enterprise), then you'll only need to pass 4 exams: 2 cores and 2 electives. 2) If you have NOT passed the 3 main NT 4.0 exams (Workstation, Server, and Enterprise), then you'll have to pass 7 exams: 5 cores and 2 electives. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) This section will assume you HAVE already passed the 3 main Windows NT 4.0 exams (Workstation, Server, Enterprise). In this case, you'll only need to pass 4 exams (2 cores and 2 electives): 1 core everyone must pass: Exam 70-240: Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Accelerated Exam for MCPs Certified on Microsoft® Windows NT® 4.0. (This accelerated, intensive exam, which will be available until December 31, 2001, covers the core competencies of exams 70-210, 70-215, 70-216, and 70-217.) For the 2nd core exam, you can choose from: -- Exam 70-219: Designing a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure --Exam 70-220: Designing Security for a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Network --Exam 70-221: Designing a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Network Infrastructure You must also pass 2 electives from: -- Any elective from the NT 4.0 track that is not retired. ie, TCP/IP 4.0, Exchange Server 4.0, IIS 4.0, IE 4.0-5.0, etc. -- Exam 70-219: Designing a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure -- Exam 70-220: Designing Security for a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Network --Exam 70-221: Designing a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Network Infrastructure --Exam 70-222: Upgrading from Microsoft® Windows® NT 4.0 to Microsoft® Windows® 2000 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) This section will assume that you have NOT passed the 3 main NT 4.0 exams (Workstation, Server, and Enterprise), then you'll have to pass 7 exams: 5 cores and 2 electives. For the core exams, you must pass these 4 cores: Exam 70-210: Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional Exam 70-215: Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server Exam 70-216: Implementing and Administering a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Network Infrastructure Exam 70-217: Implementing and Administering a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure For your 5th core exam, you can choose 1 from: -- Exam 70-219: Designing a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure --Exam 70-220: Designing Security for a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Network --Exam 70-221: Designing a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Network Infrastructure Go To Page: 1 2
