According to the last Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine, the average MCSE ( Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer ) made over $40,000 U.S. last year. That's not too shabby for passing six exams. If you're in the computer especially the networking industry there is no better time to get certified then now. Look in the newspapers and you'll see that almost every information technology position requires the MCSE title. Getting certified is almost a prerepresite for any IT position nowadays.
The sale of Windows NT increased over 100% last year, while Novell's Netware is lagging. Novell actually lost a ton of money last year its NetWare 4.x is not faring too well against Microsoft's Windows NT Server 4.0. Also, the sale of Microsoft's BackOffice is extremely strong and Microsoft Corporation expects the BackOffice family to account for 25% of its revenue by the turn of the century. That's a pretty high expectation to set for a single family of products. But sales of the BackOffice family of products, especially Exchange Server and SQL Server, have been very strong.
The upcoming releases of SQL Server 7.0 and Windows NT 5.0 (delayed) should put Microsoft on top of the lucrative networking and SQL database markets, long dominated by Novell and Oracle.
By becoming a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, you are recongized within the industry as a person who can implement and support Windows NT and the family of BackOffice products and make big, big bucks in the process.
